What we collect
Your name, email address and a password hash when you create an account. The names and settings of the learner profiles you add. Every exercise result: the text length, keys typed, errors, speed, accuracy, duration and per-key statistics. Payment details are collected and stored by Stripe; we hold only a customer identifier and the state of your subscription. In the Home Row Hero app, purchases are made through Apple’s App Store; we hold only the subscription state Apple reports. If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address and when you signed up.
How we use it
To run the course: scoring lessons, choosing drills based on the keys you miss, showing your stats and log, and sending password resets and receipts. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
- Stripe or Apple: billing.
- Resend, our email provider: password resets and the newsletter.
- Netlify: serves this website, and keeps the newsletter list.
- Google Fonts: serves the site’s two typefaces, so it sees the address of a browser that opens a page.
Nobody else.
How the public pages are used
Home Row Hero uses Microsoft Clarity to see how the anonymous public marketing, pricing, and legal pages are used: which pages people reach, what they click, and where they stop. Newsletter fields are hidden. Clarity is never on sign-in, sign-up, password, payment, account, learner, lesson, typing, practice, test, stats, admin, or other signed-in pages. Microsoft's privacy notice is at privacy.microsoft.com.
Cookies and advertising
One session cookie keeps you signed in. No page carries ads today. If display ads come to the free tier, the advertising provider that serves them may set cookies and similar technologies to decide which ads to show, and this policy will name that provider before the first ad appears. Subscribers see no ads, and no advertising cookies are set for them.
Your choices
You can change or delete your account from the Account page on the website. Deleting it removes every profile, result and statistic immediately. Every newsletter email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
Children
Learner profiles for children are created and managed by the account holder, who is an adult. We do not collect anything from a child beyond the exercise results described above.
